It’s April. It is time to head outside for crawfish, baseball, and festivals. Unfortunately, mosquitoes are coming to join the fun. No one likes getting bit, so take some preventative steps to keep the bugs away. Step 1 - Drill holes in the bottom of the lowest point of trash and recycling containers. Step 2 - Clean your gutters. The leaves from fall hold water and are a prime spot for mosquito eggs. Step 3 - Keep your swimming pools chlorinated. The chlorine kills mosquito eggs. Step 4 - If it holds water, then dump it, tip it, fill it, or toss it. If you love your birdbath, be sure to drain it twice a week. 

Limit your exposure to mosquitoes. Yellow bug lights for your outdoor light fixtures do not attract bugs. DEET based insect repellent is proven and works. Citronella candles work, but only in a small area. Mosquito sprays labeled for mosquito control in your yard can work well if applied correctly. Please DO NOT use bug zappers, sound based mosquito repellents, or citrosa plants. They do not work.
