The method of lawn fertilization is sometimes as important as the type of fertilizer. During this time of year, avoid liquid treatments if you can. If you have to use liquid, try to use it before 9 in the morning or in late afternoon.
Use granular fertilizer, fungicide, and insecticide products in the middle of summer. Apply granular products either with a drop spreader or a broadcast spreader to get the best coverage. A drop spreader will give you better control when applying products, but make sure you don’t overlap your walking paths. Drop spreaders also take a lot longer. They are really good choices for small areas of grass.
A broadcast spreader throws the product over a much larger area. They also require some overlap on your walking path to ensure proper coverage. You can cover an area much faster with a broadcast spreader than you could with a drop spreader.
